Our History

Five decades of firsts — from the ball-and-cage valve to the world's most implanted transcatheter heart valve.

1972

Founded

CardioNova Therapeutics was founded by Dr. Marcus R. Hale in Irvine, California, with a mission to develop superior heart valve prostheses.

1984

First Porcine Bioprosthesis

CardioNova introduced its first porcine tissue valve — a major advance in bioprosthetic valve technology that reduced thromboembolic risk.

1999

Resilia™ Technology Inception

Our scientists begin development of the proprietary dual-fixation chemistry that would become Resilia™ — a 15-year research journey to eliminate calcification.

2007

First TAVR Program

CardioNova receives first regulatory approval for its transcatheter aortic valve replacement program in Europe, beginning a new era in structural heart care.

2016

NovaCor™ FDA Approval

FDA approves the NovaCor™ TAVR system for high-risk and inoperable patients — the beginning of U.S. commercial TAVR expansion.

2019

Resilia™ Valve Commercial Launch

The NovaResilience™ Aortic Valve with Resilia™ tissue receives FDA clearance and reaches its 100,000th implant within 24 months of launch.

Today

Expanding the Frontiers

CardioNova now leads clinical programs in transcatheter mitral and tricuspid repair, next-generation TAVR, and hemodynamic monitoring — expanding our impact across all four heart valves.
